Christmas, in all its glory, is a hectic time of year. There are stockings to be filled, turkeys to be stuffed and office parties to stumble home from. Amid the festive hustle and bustle, it’s important to take some time to be thankful for everything we have: our loved ones, our health, our education. The latter is something that we at Copylab are certainly grateful for: without our educations, we wouldn’t have our jobs.
But what about people who aren’t so lucky? What about children who have to forego basic education to provide for their families? With this in mind, we have decided to swap Christmas cards for a charitable donation to UNICEF this year. The money will go towards providing education, food, clean water and protection from violence to children across the world (and we’ll save a few trees along the way). Within the UK, UNICEF supports schools through training courses and professional advisors to create safe and inspiring learning spaces. School books, pencils and classroom kits are a lot more important than season’s-greetings cards, and we like to think that one day every child will be presented with the same opportunities that we received. Swapping out Christmas cards won’t change the world, but at least it’s a start.
Merry Christmas from everyone here at Copylab!
