This year, Copylab celebrates 20 years of helping asset managers and other financial institutions meet deadlines, simplify the complex, and enhance the impact of their client communications. What started with one person and a laptop in 2005 has grown into a dynamic team of more than 130 creative professionals around the world.

Over the past two decades, the industry has changed a lot — new trends, new tools and new ways to connect. Yet the principles that shaped our beginnings remain the same. As we mark this milestone, we reflect on what we’ve learned and look ahead to the trends that will drive what’s next.

Clarity over complexity

Great financial content doesn’t try to impress with jargon. It earns trust through clarity. The right words in the right sentence can carry more weight than a page of technical language. The right chart, designed to help readers see and understand, conveys critical data with quiet authority.

Our role has always been to simplify without oversimplifying — a delicate balance that demands both deep investment knowledge and creative skill. That intersection is where the art of financial content happens.

Relationships rule

Even in an era of rapid technological change, the foundation of great work hasn’t shifted. It’s still about people.

Many of our client relationships began with a single urgent project — a white paper, a quarterly report — and grew as trust deepened. Over time, these connections evolved into long-term partnerships that spanned regions, divisions and asset classes.

While AI and other emerging tools can make some of our processes faster, they’ll never replace the human connection that turns collaboration into trust. (And they’ll never take you out for drinks and karaoke.)

Flexibility drives growth

Over the past two decades, our services have expanded dramatically to include writing for fund commentary, thought leadership, video scripts, email marketing, social media and more; graphic design; content strategy; copyediting; proofreading; training and process consulting. Sometimes we introduced new offerings proactively; other times, we built them in response to client needs.

The constant thread? Adaptability. Staying curious, experimenting early and rarely saying “no” have helped us thrive.

Integrity is everything

Trust is the currency of our business. We earn it by doing what’s right, not just what’s easy. That commitment has guided every client relationship for 20 years — and will continue to do so for the next 20.

Collaboration creates better results

Great ideas can arise in solitude, but the best ones emerge through collaboration. A conversation with a fund manager can uncover a story that numbers alone can’t tell. A quick chat with compliance can prevent days of rework. A designer’s input can turn dense data into an elegant chart. These exchanges transform tasks into shared problem-solving and better outcomes.

Never stop learning

Finance never stands still, and neither do we. Our team regularly gathers from around the world to learn and grow together. We also launched Copylab’s AI Academy to keep our clients — and ourselves — at the forefront of content technology. AI offers exciting possibilities, but the best work comes from using it responsibly — always with trust and quality at the core.
