I joined Copylab in September 2015. At that time, I had three young children and had just finished working as an HR manager for Hilton. My idea had been to take some time off and become a stay-at-home mum, but a chance conversation with Ross Hunter about the importance of a ‘good recruitment process’ led to a job offer and I’ve never looked back.
What first attracted me to the role was the company’s flexible working stance as well as Ross’s desire to empower the team alongside him. I had a young family when I first joined, so flexibility was key to me as a working mum. After 18+ years of working in a corporate HR environment, I felt it was important that my next role gave me the opportunity to take the lead on decisions professionally while also fitting around my family life.
The flexibility we offer extends to the days, times and locations people work. Our team can, for example, work from abroad, at client sites or from home. Our flexible working arrangements allow our team to fit their work around their other commitments, whether that be walking the dog, home-schooling their children or even undertaking academic studies or other work.
We encourage our team to share their experiences of flexible working with their colleagues, recognising the benefits of discussing our experiences with one another. It’s not just a value on our website, we live and breathe it.
Since I joined Copylab, there’s been an increasing belief that companies who value flexibility and treat their employees like adults can thrive in the modern world. That was tested and proven throughout the Covid-19 pandemic when homeworking became the norm for us all. Copylab has always been a people-oriented business and we know that our team are at the core of our success. We want to ensure they are motivated, productive and, importantly, happy at work. Each member of our team has a voice. They are individuals whose opinions and thoughts count. We are all valued!
